Three teams will be named GoldenHack 3.0 finalists! Finalists will be chosen based on Devpost Submission and an asynchronous 3-minute video pitch and invited to present their project at Closing Ceremonies!

Technical Case Challenge (3)

First place prize: Apple Airpods Pro or similar headphones (subject to availability) and Dropbase hoodies for each member.

Second place prize: Dropbase hoodies for each member.

Third place prize: Dropbase T-shirts for each member.

People's Choice Award

The project with the most upvotes on Devpost will be named The GoldenHack's most popular project! Only participating hackers' votes will count. The winning project will be invited to present at Closing Ceremonies!

Most Innovative Hack

Prize: Roku sticks
Winner will be chosen based on Devpost Submissions and an asynchronous 3-minute video pitch. Winning team will be invited to present their project at Closing Ceremonies!

Best Design, presented by Figma

This prize is for a team who used Figma to create an amazing design for their hack! Whether it's a storyboard, user journey, or mockup, any design in Figma will be considered.

Winning teams will receive a Figma Prize bundle which includes stickers, merchandise, and a custom keyboard.

Best Use/Application of DCP API

This prize is for a team who used the DCP API for their hack. Winning team will receive a $250 cash prize and will be be invited to coffee chat with a member of Distributed Compute Labs!

Eligible teams will be judged through Devpost Submissions and an asynchronous 3-minute video pitch.

Data Science Challenge, presented by DCL

The COVID-19 Data Challenge (see the Hacker Guide on Notion for details) features 4 data science tasks to complete. The team who does the best job according to DCL criteria will receive a $250 cash prize.

Eligible teams will be judged through Devpost Submissions and an asynchronous 3-minute video pitch.

Best Use of Google Cloud

Use any Google Cloud product, including Firebase, and submit your project. This category is for all skill levels and use-levels. Prize of Google Cloud-branded backpack for each team member. Eligible submissions will be judged through Devpost submissions.

Best Hardware Hack Sponsored By Digi-Key

Using your preferred hardware or hardware emulator, build a hack for your chance to win a Grove Beginner Kit. Each winning team member will receive the prize! Eligible submissions will be judged through Devpost submissions.

Best Domain Name from Domain.com

Register a .tech domain name using Domain.com during the weekend. Each team may submit one entry per person on the team. Each winning team member will receive a PowerSquare Qi wireless phone charger. Eligible submissions will be judged through Devpost submissions.

Most Creative Use of Twilio

Twilio allows you to incorporate mobile messaging, phone calls and a ton of other awesome communication features right into your hackathon project using web service APIs. Are you building an e-commerce website and want to send text notifications or email confirmations once an order is completed? Or maybe your application needs to verify users based on their mobile numbers? Twilio makes all this possible and more. Build a hack that simplifies your life using any one of Twilio’s APIs for a chance to win a Twilio Swag Box and GameGo Console for you and each of your teammates! Judging Criteria

  • Technical Innovation and Implementation
    The team identified a unique problem and provided an innovative solution to it. How technically complex the problem is and tools used to develop the solution will be taken into account by judges. Self built tools will be ranked higher.
  • Execution
    Does the product function and in a way that is described? Scores in the middle with have individual components working and have communicated what the next steps to completing the product would be.
  • Creativity
    Creativity can be shown in a variety of ways! It can be through taking an out of the box approach to solving an existing problem or implementing a technical component in an interesting way.
  • Design
    High scorer will have taken user experience and their user interface into account. Ease of use/end user consideration for the product will be judged. In addition, the overall visual cohesiveness of the presentation, including slideshow will be assessed.
  • Business Model
    Thought should be put into how the idea would be put on the market and its economic feasibility. How will customer obtain and use the product? High scorers may also address scalability and overall business sustainability.
  • Pitch
    The pitch should contain content that is extremely effective at persuading the audience of the strength of the business opportunity and how your solution addresses the problem. Presenters should appear practiced and professional with smooth transitions.
